This week’s episode of Three Little Fishes takes a more emotional turn as the sisters open up about something that doesn’t get talked about enough: friendship breakups — especially the kind that happen without warning, conversation, or closure.
Nancy shares her raw, honest experience of being ghosted by someone she once considered a best friend — and the grief, confusion, and self-doubt that came with it. The sisters explore how friendship shifts in midlife, and what to do when someone simply stops showing up.
If you’ve ever been quietly cut off and left wondering what happened — this one’s for you.
💧 Kathy’s Laundry Room Flood
In true Fish fashion, the heavy stuff is balanced with a dose of household chaos. Kathy tells the tale of a blonde moment forgetting to turn the water off that flooded the laundry room. PSA: If you don’t have one yet, get yourself a water leak detector. Here's a list of recommendations from Popular Mechanics:👉 Best Water Leak Detectors (Popular Mechanics)
☀️ Kathy’s Summer Skincare Tips
After last week's conversation about Nancy's skin-cancer diagnosis, Kathy found this helpful guide that covers everything from hydration to sunscreen to bug bites:👉 5 Skin-Smart Tips for Summer (URMC Health Matters)
Bonus mention: Emu oil. Yes, really. The sisters are still debating whether it’s miracle or myth, but here’s a link if you’re curious:👉 How Emu Oil Helps with Hair Growth (Cleure)
🍽️ What’s for Dinner: Easy Lobster Rolls
This week’s dinner segment features a lobster roll that’s fast, flexible, and not entirely authentic — but totally delicious. Use fresh lobster to be authentic. But since neither Kathy nor Nancy's daughter can eat lobster Nancy is looking for an alternate. Immitation crab? Shrimp? (wouldn't that be a Po Boy?) or go totally veg and try this recipe with hearts of palm instead.
👉 Best Vegan Lobster Roll
The fishes don't feel the need to go full vegan and will just use regular mayonnaise and butter.
📚 What We’re Loving
Books: Nancy recommends One Golden Summer by Carley Fortune; Funny Story by Emily Henry; and The Wedding People by Alison Espach Side Note: Nancy listens to all these and highly recommends an Audible subscription.
TV: Nancy is watching Stick on AppleTV. The jury is still out on how she feels about it.
Nails: Kathy’s Dazzle Dry review: great finish, fast dry time, but you’ve got to commit to the system.
Whether you’re dealing with emotional whiplash or just trying to make it through summer without a major appliance fail, we hope this episode brings you comfort, connection, and a few laughs. Also, we're taking July off. See you again in August.
